York City Council has opened its unaudited accounts for public inspection by Monday, August 1st.
The annual inspection gives members of the public and local government voters certain rights in the audit process.
Anyone may inspect the board’s statement of accounts for the year ended March 31, 2022.
In addition, with reasonable notice, individuals may request access to certain related documents (including books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts) or a hard copy of the accounts.
The board says an order should initially be made to [email protected]
York City Council accounts are subject to external audit by Mazars LLP.
For the same period, until August 1, voters can question the auditor about the accounts or object to the accounts before their approval by the Audit and Government Commission in November.
More details on the Account Statement inspection process, voter rights and contact details can be found in the inspection notice on the council’s website.
