Wendy the sea lion invades hotel pool and barge scares guest in her sun lounger in hilarious video

THIS is the hilarious moment a sea lion took a brazen dip in a hotel pool before pinching a confused guest’s lounge chair as gawking tourists watched.

Cheeky Wendy and her puppy Lulu are regular guests at the exclusive resort in the Galapagos Islands and are known at the hotel for their antics.

Comical footage captured by a tourist shows the cute creature climbing a few steps from the sea to the outside of the facility.

Wendy then stormed into the hotel pool – diving headfirst without a second thought.

But after a quick cruise across the water, the cheeky sea lion jumped out of the water and headed straight for the only lounge chair seated by a guest.

The amusing clip shows the confused tourist quickly jumping to his feet as Wendy pushes him out of the way and takes his seat.

He can be seen snatching his towel from the lounger in a hurry before throwing his arm in the air in confusion as Wendy settles down.

Tourists at the hotel are warned about Wendy and are asked to try to stay at least five feet away from the lounge chair thief.

Guests are also warned to avoid trying to pet or feed Wendy and her pup — who often spend hours sprawled out in the sun in the hotel’s armchairs.

And there’s a good reason tourists are told to keep their distance, as the slippery sea creatures have a troublesome history of preying on humans.

Mammals’ dangerous reputation is often overshadowed by more formidable animals lurking in the ocean and their inclusion in circuses and shows – meaning they are easily underestimated.

Their curious nature is often confused with sympathy for swimmers, with many forgetting that their animal instincts will always reign supreme.

Humans are playing an underwater game of Russian roulette by immersing themselves in their environment – no matter how many cute cartoons you may have seen.

While attacks are rare, getting within 8 feet of the beasts can have disastrous consequences.

Their speed, power, and unsettling element of surprise make them a terrifying opponent in their underwater territory – and on land.

A sea lion managed to become an overnight sensation by demonstrating these cunning skills in May 2017.

The beast dragged a little girl behind a Candian dock in British Columbia in front of horrified tourists.

In another horrific incident, a 13-year-old girl was attacked by one of the mammals while playing in the ocean in 2019.

Oblivious, Megan Pagnini was knee-deep in the ocean in Pismo Beach, California as her friends filmed her in front of the sunset.

The extraordinary clip shows the sea lion suddenly jumping out of the water and attacking the teenager as his friends look on in horror.

He managed to rip a deep chunk out of his leg during the horrific incident – while changing his mind about the seemingly fluffy creature.

But animal rights advocates rushed to the sea lion’s defense – reminding people that they “are not circus performers and not trained to be with people”.
