URGENT: Manchester United star Mason Greenwood remains on bail after rape arrest

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood remains on bail following a court hearing following his arrest on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and death threats.

The 20-year-old was first arrested on January 30 on suspicion of raping and assaulting a woman. He was then arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and death threats.

A hearing was held in court yesterday (June 23) regarding the football player’s bail position. A statement issued by Greater Manchester Police said his bail remains.

The statement read: “Following a hearing yesterday (Thursday, June 23, 2022), a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and death threats on Sunday, January 30, 2022, remains on bail. . does not affect the progress of investigations, Greater Manchester Police will not provide further updates regarding this case until the suspect is charged or released without further action.”

No dates for further hearings have been specified at this stage. The academy product was originally supposed to respond to bail, where he is required to appear at a police station, on April 30, but the day before the GMP said an application would be made to the courts to extend it.

Greenwood has been suspended from Manchester United and has not played for the club since their Premier League game against West Ham on 22 January. After initially suspending their relationship with the forward, Nike also confirmed that their partnership with him has ended.
