BIDEN’S ADMINISTRATION VOID TRUMP’S POLICY ON PALESTINIANS

UN Watch, a Geneva-based NGO, found in its 49-page report that United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) computer professor Nihaya Awad, who works in the West Bank, supported Hamas’ rocket attacks on Israeli civilians after last year’s war. The US and European Union have branded Hamas – the Sunni jihadist organization that controls the Gaza Strip – as a terrorist entity.

In an internet post, Awad wrote: “Greetings to the people of Gaza, Blessed victory.” In a second post, Awad wrote: “In the name of Allah, one victory after another, Palestine will be fully liberated.”

Awad “encouraged the exploitation of child soldiers by Palestinian terrorists, in a May 21, 2021 Facebook post,” UN Watch reported.

Awad posted the entries two months after a UNRWA director, Gwyn Lewis, praised Awad in a certificate of appreciation for his “fantastic efforts” as “best performance” in UNRWA education, according to the report.

“We are proud that you are part of the UNRWA team,” Lewis wrote on March 23, 2021.

Hillel Neuer, Executive Director of UN Watch, said: “UNRWA must therefore be considered complicit in the misconduct of its employees. Around the world, educators who incite hatred and violence are removed. , systematically employs preachers of anti-Jewish hatred and terrorism.”

UN Watch documented 20 new examples in the report of UNRWA teachers and staff advocating terrorism and anti-Semitism in their school curricula.

An example from Lebanon, where the US-designated terrorist movement Hezbollah has great control over the state, showed UNRWA Lebanon professor Elham Mansour posting on Facebook on May 11, 2022: “By Allah, anyone who can kill and massacre any Zionist and Israeli criminal, and doesn’t, doesn’t deserve to live. Kill them and chase them everywhere, they are the biggest enemy… All Israel deserves is death.”

Neuer said, “We urge the governments that fund UNRWA, as they meet at the United Nations to announce new pledges, to declare that they will stop allowing a system that teaches new generations of Palestinians to hate and murder Jews.”

“The US, EU, Germany, UK, Canada and other donor states cannot morally send more money to UNRWA until it shows genuine commitment to basic standards of education in its schools,” he continued. “This means that the agency must publicly condemn UNRWA officials who incite terrorism and anti-Semitism, remove them from their posts, and create an independent and impartial investigation of all UNRWA officials.”

In response to a request for comment from Fox News Digital, William Deere, acting director of UNRWA’s Washington DC office, noted that the report came out the same day as the UN meeting on the agency.

Deere noted in his emailed statement that “a well-known politically motivated organization is once again seeking to undermine the Agency’s vital humanitarian and human development work. UNRWA is an agency fully committed to upholding the UN’s principles and values and has zero tolerance for hate speech and incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence”.

He continued, “As we have stated many times before, UNRWA takes all these allegations seriously and is reviewing the newly made allegations, noting that they were not shared with UNRWA before they were made public.”

Deere promised action if wrongdoing is found: “The Agency’s legal framework provides a process to investigate and act on potential cases of hate speech, incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence, in accordance with UN values and principles . is found, UNRWA will take disciplinary action and the Host and Donor Agency Advisory Committee will be notified of the results.”

David Bedein, director of the Center for Near Eastern Policy Research and a curriculum expert at UNRWA, told Fox News Digital that the Biden administration has made a positive move.

“The US government has issued an order to place all UNRWA funds in escrow because UNRWA will not change its curriculum. The US has not relented,” he said.

Bedein said that “UN Watch’s statement on UNRWA professors’ incitement to murder Jews is factual, accurate and informative. UNRWA’s current curriculum prepares its students for an all-out war against Jews,” he said.
