Two escape injuries after shots fired at Newtownards apartment

A man and a woman escaped injuries after shots were fired at a property in Newtownards on Thursday night.

The attack took place in the Lisbane Drive area of ​​the city just before 11:30 pm.

Two men attempted to enter an apartment in the area. It was reported that two shots were fired at the front door when the men were unable to enter.

Detective Sergeant Shivers said: “It was further reported that an object had been used to attempt to enter the property, which also caused damage to the front door.

“Damage was also caused to an interior wall of the hall following the incident.

“A 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were inside the property but were not injured. Investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“We urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 2074 06/09/22.
