Tragedy as man ‘found lying down’ on Marston Green Road at 4am dies

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found lying on a residential road. The tragedy happened this morning.

Officers were called to respond to reports that a ‘man was lying’ on Newington Road, Marston Green, shortly before 4am on Saturday, April 30th. Paramedics arrived alongside officers and the 40-year-old man was taken to hospital.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead a short time later, police confirmed. A blue and white cordon was erected across the street, with a flagged police vehicle guarding the scene as residents woke up.

His death is currently treated as ‘unexplained’ and police are carrying out further investigations. Anyone with information was advised to get in touch.

A West Midlands Police statement read: “We were called to Newington Road in Marston Green shortly before 4am today (Saturday) to reports that a man was lying in the road.

“Officers and paramedics arrived and he was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The death of the man, who is in his 40s, is being treated as unexplained and we are conducting further investigations.
