Manchester City Council is looking for a full-time site manager to look after a private residential development near St John’s Gardens, just steps from Deansgate.

The Porchfield Square Site Manager will liaise with visiting contractors and monitor their work, in addition to maintaining the grounds and performing basic maintenance and repairs. As the selected candidate will need to live on-site full-time, they will also receive a newly renovated, rent-free apartment.

According to the job listing, the role requires a high degree of confidence and self-motivation as it is largely unsupervised. The site manager is the first point of contact for the residents, so they will also need very good interpersonal skills. A positive, helpful and diplomatic attitude is essential.

Candidates will need experience and knowledge of garden maintenance and basic property maintenance is required. Due to the nature of the position, there will be a requirement to work a flexible hours degree.

The incumbent will be part of the council’s development team within the growth and development directorate. The team is responsible for managing non-operating real estate assets, which includes the development of St John’s Gardens.

Porchfield Square residential development

As a fixed base worker, the selected candidate would work in a specific location. This could be because they use specialized equipment or because you work with audiences from a fixed location. Salary is grade four and ranges from £20,444 to £22,129, bar at £21,695 a year, working 35 hours a week. The contract is full-time and permanent.
