The visit will not only commemorate the celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee but also “showcase the evolution of our society,” said Governor General Mary Simon in a media release, pointing to Canada’s “diverse and inclusive society, as well as the resilience of Indigenous communities.”

The Royal couple’s visit is scheduled in May. It will be Charles’ 19th trip to Canada, and the fifth for his wife.

It’s also their second time meeting the governor general. Her Excellency dela met them for the first time during a visit to London, United Kingdom, in March 2022.

The upcoming tour also includes stops in Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Northwest Territories.
