The horror is believed to have taken place at the branch in Romford, east London, in front of customers who expressed their shock and concern. Writing on a resident’s Facebook page, a buyer said: “A baby fell off the top of the escalator in Romford Primark yesterday, someone who was there knows if the baby was ok or not as I can’t understand The poor baby screams in my mind.”
The accident happened on Monday at the discount store chain, reports My London.
Primark, which has more than 150 stores in the UK, is “aware of an incident”.
One individual, who claims to know a store employee, commented that the baby is “only two weeks old”. Others shared their best wishes for the baby.
“I hope the poor baby is fine. Sometimes it’s hard to control children, but a baby? Parents must be devastated,” wrote one Facebook user.
“Oh my God how did this happen I hope the baby is ok,” added another.
A Primark spokesperson told My London: “We are aware of an incident that occurred at our Romford store on Monday. Our colleagues were available to provide assistance and support. We hope the baby and family are doing well. “
No further details about the baby, including gender, condition or where he is from, have been released at this stage.
My London contacted the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service for comment, but they had no details of the incident.
