Police were forced to close a parking lot at a popular beauty spot on the Gower Peninsula on Sunday night – with officials claiming the area was being used as a ‘race track’.
South Wales Swansea Police officials said they were called to Bracelet Bay to investigate reports of dangerous driving. Once at the scene, police say they discovered large crowds had gathered in the area – which they say was being “used as a race track”.
In a brief twitter statement issued at 9:37 pm, police said: “Officers attended Bracelet Bay following reports of dangerous driving. Large crowds gathered when the area was used as a race track.
“The car park was temporarily closed while checks were carried out on over 100 vehicles exiting the car park.”
Bracelet Bay is a small bay in the south of the Gower Peninsula. It’s the first bay after leaving Swansea Bay and going around Mumbles Head. It has a Green Coast Award and is a popular spot for rockpool and ice cream.
