Police: 3 wounded, taken to hospital after Chicago shooting

CHICAGO — Three people were shot and wounded on Friday in a western suburb of Chicago, officials said.

The Chicago Police Department said a man was sitting in a parked car with a woman standing in the driver’s side window when they were both hit by gunfire at around 10:15 pm in South Austin, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The 34-year-old man was shot twice in the neck and taken to hospital in critical condition, and the 31-year-old woman was shot in the elbow and is doing well, police said.

A third person, a 32-year-old man, was driving down the street when the shooting took place and was also shot, police said. He was also taken to the hospital and is doing well.

No further details about the shooting were immediately available. Nobody was in custody.
