More than 100 flights canceled at O’Hare Airport due to storms hitting the region – NBC Chicago

Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds spread across the Chicago area on Saturday afternoon, resulting in more than 100 canceled flights at O’Hare International Airport and multiple delays.

As of 5:09 pm, 134 flights have been canceled at O’Hare, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation. Incoming flights were delayed by an average of an hour, according to the website. Flights scheduled to depart from O’Hare experienced shorter delays, averaging 38 minutes.

Weather conditions also caused problems at Midway International Airport, which experienced an overall average delay of 41 minutes. Incoming flights were delayed on average by 37 minutes, while departures were delayed by an average of 45 minutes.

No flights had been canceled at Midway until 5:13 pm, according to the CDA website.
