Incredible footage of a dangerous car chase across west Melbourne emerged after a man allegedly went on a crime spree.
A dramatic vision emerged showing the moment an erratic driver was shot down by police and arrested.
Chaos broke out in Melton, on Melbourne’s west end, shortly after noon on Sunday, and saw the involved car swerve into oncoming lanes of traffic.
Police were informed that the man had been involved in a two-car accident nearby at around 9:30 am that morning, where he allegedly pulled out a firearm and threatened the driver of the other car.
He quickly fled the scene while the passenger in the other car, a 63-year-old woman, was taken to hospital.
However, the alleged binge had only begun with the man accused of committing aggravated robbery at a suburban home at around 11:30am.
There, he allegedly threatened the home’s occupants at gunpoint before stealing a Kia Sportage vehicle.
The vehicle was said to have been driven erratically and dangerously, at high speeds, often crossing the wrong side of the road and sometimes going off the road completely.
The chase ended after the car was rammed by a police vehicle and the alleged offender was brought to the ground by Victoria police officers.
“The vehicle was allegedly driven erratically and dangerously, at high speeds, often crossing onto the wrong side of the road and sometimes going off the road completely,” a spokesperson said.
A 24-year-old man from Box Hill has been arrested and is currently assisting police in their investigation.
