Antonio’s warning

Erik ten Hag will know exactly what he will sign up for if he is successful in bringing Antony to Manchester United.

The Brazilian showed off his incredible natural ability while playing with Ten Hag at Ajax, but he also showed a penchant for making headlines for all the wrong reasons. After hitting an incredible goal to clinch a 3-2 win over Feyenoord in March, Antony took off his shirt in the emotion that led to a yellow card.

And then, moments later, he was given a second yellow card for wasting time, prompting his captain Dusan Tadic to throw him to the ground in frustration. Former Netherlands international Rene van der Gijp criticized the star, saying he could “go even crazier”.

While former Ajax star Wim Kieft hinted that Antony “behaves like an idiot”. And it seems that Ten Hag has accepted the messages by admitting that the attacker still has a lot to “learn”.

The first message from Garner’s team

James Garner wants to “go into pre-season and impress” after returning to Manchester United after his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder helped Forest claim promotion to the Premier League via the league play-offs last season when he played in an impressive 44 games for the first team. He returns to United with the club desperate for quality in midfield, under a manager who has built a reputation for giving young players the chance to impress.

And in a statement that is sure to be music to his new boss’ ears, Garner says “it’s up to me as a player to impress him and hopefully leave a mark.”

Why Zidane never managed to coach United

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has hinted that he could never take charge of Manchester United.

The Frenchman was one of the names linked to the job at Old Trafford before the club chose the appointment of Erik ten Hag, and it looks like he will never be able to take the job. Zidane said there are only “two or three” teams he would realistically manage, suggesting players like Paris Saint-Germain, his former team Juventus and the French national team could be favorite destinations for him.

And the World Cup winner also admitted that he is not “completely fluent” in English – something he considers important for taking on any manager’s job in England.
