Makeup Tutorial: Putting a little more hip on the lip

This time, we’re going to opt for a pure coral or orange lip shade and clean kitty eyeliner to change things up.

There’s power in a statement lip and a cat’s eye as they return season after season. What’s old is new, and what’s new is a nod to the past, but this time, it’s with a twist. Instead of the classic red lip and cat eye, why not opt for a coral or pure orange lip shade and clean kitty eyeliner to change things up.

Step 1

I started by evening out my complexion with Sephora – SClean Glowing Foundation using a clean, damp beauty blender. I love how this product offers a lightweight, full-coverage finish and leaves skin looking healthy, hydrated, and radiant. Then I contoured the face with NARS – Laguna Bronzer and added a dash of Tart – Blissful Blush on the cheekbones.

To dress up my eyes, I started by applying MAC – Longwear Paint Pot in “Bare Study” with my finger to prep the lids, add a soft shine and prevent creases. I lined the upper lids with Sephora – Ultimate Gel Waterproof Eyeliner in Matte Black.

TIP: The trick to getting the perfect cat eyeliner is to get as close to the lash line as possible and start in the middle of the eye. Use thin, short strokes and then make a small movement in the outer corner for a subtle wing.

To frame the face and highlight the eyes, you must fill in the eyebrows. I am using Benefit Cosmetic – Brow Microfilling Eyebrow Pen. I’m obsessed with this waterproof brow pen as it creates the illusion of a natural brow with three ultra-fine lines in a single stroke. It blends in perfectly with your natural brow hairs, making them look full and fluffy.

To complete the look, I tested Sephora – Lipstories Lipstick on “Hot in Havana”. This particular shade is a satin finish and is long lasting and highly pigmented. They come in a wide variety of colors and are available in matte, satin or metallic finishes. And the packaging is a charm!
