M4 recap: Five people injured in multi-vehicle crash near Heathrow Airport

Five people were injured following a multi-vehicle accident on the M4 on Sunday (1 May). A 10-year-old girl was among the injured and was transported by helicopter to hospital with “life-threatening” injuries, the Metropolitan Police confirms.

Emergency services were called to a car accident involving four vehicles near junction 3 of the M4 in West Drayton. This section is close to Heathrow Airport.

The Military Police were called around 1:43 pm. Both carriageways between junction 4 and junction 3 were initially closed by the emergency services. The west route reopened in the early evening, with the east route reopening just before 12:30 pm.

National Highways said on Twitter: “All lanes are open on #M4 eastbound between J4 and J3 near #HeathrowAirport after a previous collision. Delays of less than 10 minutes remain on approach.”
