Kinder factory at Salmonella case center may reopen

Ferrero’s Belgian factory is authorized to restart production of Kinder chocolate subject to rigorous testing

A Belgian factory behind a Salmonella contamination in Kinder chocolates sold in Europe could conditionally reopen after a cleanup by owner Ferrero, health officials said on Friday.

Ferrero was forced to withdraw more than 3,000 tonnes of Kinder products worth tens of millions of euros after the Salmonella cases were blamed on Kinder chocolates made at its Arlon factory.
