Jurgen Klopp has promised Liverpool will return to the Champions League final by telling fans to book his hotel for Istanbul next season.

The Reds fell short of Real Madrid on Saturday night as Vinicius Jr secured a 1-0 victory for the Spanish side. The defeat means Liverpool walk away with two trophies out of a possible four this season after winning an FA Cup and a Carabao Cup.

Klopp couldn’t hide his disappointment full-time but still had the prospect of enjoying the good season Liverpool had despite narrowly missing the big two – the Champions League and Premier League.

The German believes Liverpool have a chance of making it through to next season’s final, which will be played in Istanbul – a place that holds significance for the Reds after their infamous 2005 victory over Milan – as he has told fans to book their hotels.

Reflecting on the defeat, Klopp told BT Sport: “In the dressing room nobody feels like it’s been a great season at the moment. Maybe we need a few hours for that.

“It was the two decisions against us that were the smallest possible margins. We played a good game, not a perfect game. I don’t think a perfect game is possible against an opponent configured with a deep formation.

“We had a lot of shots, but not the clearest ones. Courtois made two great saves. We conceded a goal from the sideline. Valverde wanted to shoot, Vinicius was there and that was it.

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool will be back in Champions League final next season

“The boys tried everything, especially when they were down 1-0, so we played like we wanted to play before. We had our midfielders very deep. It’s a threat they are with counterattacks. We wanted to be more courageous in the second half. that’s what we said at half-time, we played around them, we should have played more in the formation than around them.

“It feels different. It’s not bad to get to the final. It’s kind of a success. Not the success you want to have.

“I have a strong feeling that we will be back. The boys are very competitive. Together they are an excellent group. We will have an excellent group next season. Where is next season? Istanbul? Book the hotel.”
