‘History repeated itself’ as Arnhem Land is reused as launch site

Australia’s eyes will be on the northeast of Arnhem Land for the next two months after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that NASA will launch three rockets from the region.

Yothu Yindi Foundation Executive Director Denise Bowden says the area used by NASA contains a former space station used by the European Launcher Development Organization from the 1960s.

“That was an old ELDO space station and it’s almost like history repeats itself, has come back into shape,” she told Sky News Australia.
