Firefighters Injured Fighting California Canyon Fire as Residents Return Home

Firefighting aircraft participated in work to control the Canyon Fire in Alameda County, California on June 23, as residents were evacuated and local media reported that two firefighters were injured. Footage recorded by Anup Shah shows firefighting aircraft dropping flame retardants into a wooded area in Pleasanton on Thursday afternoon. Residents of two areas of Alameda County, including Pleasanton, were allowed to return to their homes on Thursday after evacuation orders were issued in the afternoon. Local media reported that two firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze. Both were taken to hospital and “hopefully they are well”. Cal Fire said Canyon Fire covered 50 acres at 9:44 pm.
