Pub manager Ian Connors, 39, a dad-of-two from Small Heath, who runs the bar, which is a favorite haunt for Birmingham City FC fans, said: ‘It was a bit crazy.
‘He is good pals with the Birmingham rapper Jaykae who sometimes comes in here and he called me up and said can I bring someone along.
‘We were having a pool tournament last night and we had a DJ on so it was pretty busy and I said of course bring whoever you like.’

He continued: ‘All of a sudden, this guy walks in and everybody starts going “Is that Ed Sheeran?” We were thinking ‘surely not’.
‘We couldn’t understand what a megastar like him would be doing in a pub in Small Heath.
‘But he was brilliant, really laid back and he mingled with customers. He was just a gentleman. Really down-to-earth and he was having a good laugh.
‘You can see in the footage he was having a brilliant time, he even had a game of pool and then I invited him behind the bar.’

He went on: ‘I just asked if he wanted to go and he started pulling Carling. It was completely surreal. He even joked that he wasn’t working for free and I had to pay him.
‘He stayed for a while and everybody had a brilliant night having pictures taken with him but to join in a sing-a-long with Ed Sheeran is something I never thought I’d say.
‘I’ve spoken to Jaykae to check they were happy with us sharing the videos because they turned up with no security.
‘He checked with Ed and they were fine with it, so it shows what type of man he is that he’s happy to give our little pub in Brum some publicity.
‘We’re still in a bit of shock to be honest, this is the last place you’d expect him to turn up.
‘But he was fantastic with everybody and it was night everyone will certainly remember.’

The party comes after Ed won his copyright court case last week, which saw a judge rule his hit track Shape Of You was not a copy of Grime artist Sami Switch’s song.
In the ruling, a judge rejected a Grime artist’s claim that Ed had ripped off his 2015 song Oh Why in the 2017 tune Shape of You. Mr Justice Zacaroli concluded Sheeran ‘neither deliberately nor subconsciously’ copied a phrase.
He said: ‘While there are similarities between the OW Hook (Oh Why) and the OI Phrase (Shape of You), there are also significant differences. I am satisfied Mr Sheeran did not subconsciously copy Oh Why in creating Shape.’
After the verdict, Ed took to Instagram to blast the ‘really damaging’ copyright claim culture that is ripping through the music industry.

The popstar lashed out at the ‘baseless claims’ being brought against singer-songwriters ‘with the idea a settlement will be cheaper than taking it to court’.
He said he was ‘obviously happy with the result’ but added: ‘I’m not an entity, I’m not a corporation, I’m a human being, I’m a father, I’m a husband, I’ m a son.’
Ed is now expected to be able to claim back £2.2million in royalties for the song that were frozen during the court fight.
Following the ruling, Ed threw a private party for around 30 people at his Notting Hill bar Bertie Blossoms on Wednesday night.
He was also seen out and about in Mayfair, London, the next evening as he partied two days in a row following the victory.
Elsewhere, Ed has received three Ivor Novello Award nominations in a successful award season for the musician.
The Perfect singer, 31, will battle it out with Adele, 33, and Dave, 23, as they have received all nods in the Songwriter Of The Year category alongside Raye and Coldplay.
Chart-topping singer Ed has also received two further nods in the PRs For Music Most Performed Work category for his hit singles Bad Habits and Shivers.
