Chelsea transfer target Ousmane Dembele reportedly told Barcelona manager Xavi that he would like to STAY at Camp Nou. writes JOSHUA MBU.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the month.

A move to Stamford Bridge would see Dembele reunite with Thomas Tuchel, who he worked with at Borussia Dortmund.

However, according to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Dembélé told Barça coach Xavi that he would like to stay.

On the Barça side, the club is not prepared to give in to the offer already on the table for the Frenchman.

If Dembélé re-signs with the Catalan giants, he will play a key role in Xavi’s front line.

In May, Xavi said of Dembélé’s situation: “Negotiations are ongoing and we will be optimistic.

“I hope he can stay – he’s helped us a lot over the last six months.

“He is a decisive player, with many assists and has been excellent in many games.

“When he didn’t play, we missed him. He is a football player that I like and we would like to stay, but we will have to see.”
