Join us as we take a break during Bike Week to honor and remember those who can’t be here to celebrate with us. Held in hundreds of cities around the world on the 3rd Wednesday of each May at 7pm local time, “The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its riders not to exceed 12 mph… and remain silent during the ride. ”.
If possible, use white. If you would like to be identified as having been run over while walking, use red.
As rideofsilence.org puts it: “While cyclists have a legal right to be on the road with drivers, [drivers] often [aren’t] aware of these rights and sometimes doesn’t know the cyclists themselves”. This tour is a combination of a funeral procession and a declaration: People on bicycles are here, where we have every right to be. We are here and these are also our streets; we’re not going anywhere.
